About GHS
GHS is an international advocacy and communications consultancy working across issues in global health, development, and climate. We help clients translate complex policy and scientific priorities into compelling narratives, campaigns and coalitions, media and digital content, and events and convening platforms that mobilize funding and action.
We believe everyone should have the chance to live a healthy life on a healthy planet. GHS’s leadership has roots in advocacy during the peak of the HIV/AIDS crisis, working with ACT UP, the International AIDS Vaccine Initiative and the Treatment Action Campaign.
Our work is grounded in deep knowledge of the global health and development landscape and long-standing relationships across governments, the UN system, private sector companies, philanthropy, and civil society. Our team has backgrounds in health communications, medical and science journalism, digital and social media, and law and social science, among other disciplines.
What we’re looking for in an ideal candidate
- Strong relationships with journalists at key media outlets in Singapore and across the region
- Familiarity with global health, with expertise in vaccines (R&D, manufacturing, platform technologies), access and/or working the pharmaceutical industry of particular interest
- Quick learner, who is flexible and can get to grips with our client’s priorities and ways of working.
About the role
We’re looking for a Singapore-based communications consultant to support our client in Singapore, a vaccine venture, with building its brand with key stakeholders nationally, media relations and an internal communications workshop.
The project with the client is expected to run until December 2026, in the first instance. Hours will not be evenly distributed throughout the year, so candidates should be comfortable with a mix of quieter and busier months.
Expected responsibilities include:
- Media relations: develop media strategies, monitor national/regional media for relevant news, build media lists, pitch journalists, draft press releases, talking points and tough Q&As, organise press briefings/media roundtables, staff media interviews/site visits
- Internal communications: support the delivery of an in-person workshop with the client’s staff, including through preparing materials, liaising with the client for their feedback, delivering sessions and producing a guide for managers and employees to communicate about the client’s work
- External communications: contribute to strategies and plans, draft messaging, contribute to overall narrative
- Strategic advice & advocacy: provide counsel on in-country dynamics and nuances focused on Singapore’s health R&D and manufacturing space, identify moments to influence key stakeholders and forge new partnerships
- Event management: cover ad-hoc logistical responsibilities on-the-ground in Singapore and the region (e.g. organise a photographer, record vox pops on a smartphone, check in guests)
- Client/project management: participate in client calls and meetings, communicate with colleagues on progress and challenges, liaise with partners, understand background and nuance across priority issue areas, help to maintain trackers, produce meeting notes
Time zones and location: We’re looking for someone based in and knowledgeable about Singapore. Note, you will work closely with colleagues based in London, UK and Geneva, Switzerland, so some out-of-hours flexibility will be needed – with 9pm SGT as a cutoff time, unless otherwise agreed in advance, e.g. for in-person events.
